The 2007 Rocky Mountain Palma matches were held at the NRA Whittington Center, Raton, New Mexico 11 to 14 July 2007. The attendance at the matches were down somewhat most likely due to the World Championships in Ottawa, Canada in August. There were some very good scores shot especially by Trudie Fay of Raton New Mexico. The weather was the best they have had for the RMPM in many years. The temperatures were in the mid 70’s most days. The wind was challenging enough that many of the shooters were mumbling about getting caught at all ranges. The wind was very seldom over 15 mph and the flags would go limp on the pole frequently. Pat Clemons, Tom Ebner and Mike Beko drove out from Mississippi to run the line and Darrell DuPuy from Arizona was the Chief Pit Officer. It is difficult to find a more professional crew to run a match. The first day Palma was won by Steve Cunico from Raton, NM and the 2nd and third day winner was Trudie Fay with 448 scores both days. Shooters came from Florida to California and many states in between. This is a great match for those of you that enjoy shooting the Palma course of fire – Plan on attending in 2008.
